En su línea habitual de buenas exposiciones virtuales con amplia documentación el Museo Getty tiene, en este momento, una exposición sobre la restauración de una estatua de Apollo procedente de Pompeya.
.........A statue of Apollo in the pose of an archer was one of the first large-scale bronzes to be excavated at Pompeii, Italy. It was found in fragments in 1817 and 1818, centuries after the city was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in A.D. 79.As part of a collaboration with the National Archaeological Museum in Naples, the sculpture was brought to the Getty Villa for conservation in 2009. What began as a project to clean the Apollo and ensure its stability for display developed into a rare opportunity to investigate the many stories it could tell. ............

Pompeya fue uno de los principales objetivos de los primeros fotógrafos italianos y extranjeros que trabajaron en Italia destacando, entre otros muchos, Robert Rive y Giorgio Sommer.

.Robert Rive worked as a topographical and portrait photographer from the beginning of the 1860`s until 1889 in Naples. In 1867 he took part at the Exposition Universelle of Paris. His studio produced views and stereographs of many Italian cities.
He took photographs of monuments of Naples, Pompei, Sorrento, Capri , Amalfi and monuments of Sicily. He also tooks photographs of cities as Florence, Pisa, Siena, Roma and Genova. He patented a photosensitive paper used in Southern Italy.
