This Show and Tell will look at the Martin Parr collection held by Tate's Library and Archive
Following a two year cataloguing
project, Tate Library and Archive invite you to view a selection of
material from the photobook collection of Martin Parr, along with a talk from Tate Curator Yasufumi Nakamori.
The
Martin Parr collection comprises of over 12,000 items. The collection’s
strengths lie in its extensiveness of photobooks from around the world,
with a focus on documentary photography and propaganda materials. It
includes key works by renowned photographers, alongside self-published
amateur work and mass-produced commercial books.
The collection
was acquired by Tate with the generous support of the LUMA Foundation.
Further support has come from Art Fund, Tate Americas Foundation, Tate
Members, and Tate’s acquisition committees focused on photography, Asia
Pacific, Russia and Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East
and North Africa.
