The search for and updating of information about a photographer is almost continuous thanks to the data found in the world's great libraries and their digitized collections.
For example, by searching the New York store directory in his library, I was able to trace his business activity—his shops—in New York City over time. This, in turn, allows me to update and refine the dates of his activity in this city.
I discovered that his activity began even earlier than I had previously found. At twenty-three, he already had a shop open in that city, shortly after arriving from France.
I don't know how he managed to achieve this at such a young age. The language barrier, combined with being a foreigner in New York, must have been a very difficult obstacle to overcome.
