En (google translate)This is one of the largest old photos that I have in my collection (95x61 cm). It was purchased at an antique shop, selling everything better, I was in Avilés.
Photographer Manuel García Alonso is known mainly for being a student and follower of his uncle, the famous photographer, Ramon Garcia Duarte with whom she worked in the beginning and then independence.
In this photo the protagonist is not man nor woman but feminine dress which occupies the central part of the picture. It is a portrait of couple in a higher than average quality and the best photo of Manuel García Alonso I've ever seen.
The pose of both the habitual with the man standing and seated woman of great charm and with an atmosphere of trust and complicity between the photographer avoiding simply that none of them look at the camera.
The picture is dated 1909 and the identity of the couple I have not managed to find out.
Data photographers Asturias, Oviedo especially can be found in the book of Francisco Crabifosse "History
of a profession. "Oviedo 1997.
Photo on gelatine-bromide date back to the portrait above 1915-20- wedding. The couple poses on the terrace of the house is the main character as if wishing to show their money.

In that period ........ a year when the two worked Oviedo and Avilés studies Duarte, had been in charge of the villa nephew of Governor Manuel García Alonso, who in 1905 opened his own store in the Meanas (then Retiro Park) and signed his pictures as 'Manuel Duarte', prompting a confrontation with his uncle for the use of its trade name. As a result the firm became 'Manuel Alonso (nephew Duarte)'. All his activity was centered in Avilés, where he was known as Manolín Duarte, although he worked regularly in newspapers, magazines and regional and national publications. He died in 1955 and his interesting file, glass plates and negatives, unfortunately lost ......
