The Pictorialism was developed in Spain in the early decades of the twentieth century.

In Catalonia this aesthetic will remain well into the century and a noted artist of this trend was Joan Porqueras signing this document "View of the Monastery of Poblet in 1945".

Porqueras was an active member of the Photographic Association of Catalonia. He participated in numerous exhibitions and competitions. In his professional life he received numerous awards. His works were selected for the famous exhibition "Comings and chaos", held in Madrid in 1984 at the National Library.
