El origen del Alcázar, lo podemos situar en la época del primer Califa andaluz Abd al-Rahman III, quien sobre un antiguo asentamiento romano y más tarde visigodo, extramuros de la ciudad, donde al parecer estuvo la basílica de San Vicente Mártir y fuera enterrado San Isidoro, decide edificar su Alcázar en el año 913 de nuestra era, después de la revuelta contra el gobierno de Córdoba.

Frente a cada uno de los cuatro arcos centrales, que son mayores y menos agudos que los demás, hay en la galería una gran portada, de las que una comunica al salón de Embajadores, otra al llamado de Carlos V, otra a otro salón, y la restante constituye el emplazamiento en que, según es fama, se colocaba el trono de los Reyes moros para recibir el feudo de las cien Doncellas impuesto a sus vasallos por el usurpador Rey de Asturias Mauregato, y pagado anualmente a los árabes en recompensa de haber auxiliado a aquel para apoderarse de la corona, hasta que su sucesor el gran rey D. Alfonso II el Casto redimió a los cristianos de tan vergonzoso tributo, gracias a sus brillantes victorias sobre los infieles.

El fotógrafo es Emilio Beauchy, autor de numerosas fotos de Sevilla que luego reunio en álbumes. Esta foto pertenece a un álbum para la exportación "Seville", compuesto por 24 fotos que recogen los sitios principales de Sevilla

  • Emilio Beauchy nació en Sevilla en 1847 hijo del gran fotógrafo Julio Beauchy.
Beauchy empezó como auxiliar de su padre en el estudio de la calle Sierpes. Fue uno de los primeros fotoperiodistas, valoro mucho la rapidez de la ejecución y la importancia de la fotografía como complemento de lo escrito por el periodista.
 “Aprovechando material de clichés de colodión de su padre, y positivando en albúmina, incrementaría las celebres colecciones que tanto compitieron con las de Laurent en su momento. La serie Sevilla es magnifica y vasta, constando de mas de 400 vistas, incluyendo fondos de arte, tesoros, edificios celebres, monumentos etc,”

El estudio perteneció al fotógrafo francés Jules Beauchy Perou, que castellanizó su nombre como Julio Beauchy al asentarse en Sevilla, primero en el 102 de la calle Sierpes regentando un bazar, hasta adquirir el número 30 de la misma calle donde vendía material fotográfico. Allí comienza su actividad como fotógrafo a partir de los años 50. A principios de los 70 se asocia con Antonio Rodríguez Téllez, hasta que el negocio pasa a manos de su hijo, Emilio Beauchy, que se especializa en la fotografía de tipos y monumentos, considerado como uno de los pioneros del fotoperiodismo español
