Akkasah, the Center for Photography at New York University Abu Dhabi, is home to an archive of the photographic heritage of the Middle East and North Africa.
Collections
The
Akkasah photographic archive at NYU Abu Dhabi is drawn from around the
Middle East and North Africa. We digitize, catalogue and preserve
photographic collections and make them available for scholarly research
and general consultation both online via this website and in person at
the NYU campus in Abu Dhabi. We also commission and archive new
documentary work. Our archive consists at present of over 60,000 images,
including prints, negatives and slides, of which over 9,000 are
currently available online.
