Photographer John Noel joined colonel Howard-Bury and Captain Bruce on the first British attempt to climb Mount Everest in 1921 and 1922. When he returned the Royal Geographical Society made Captain Knowles photographs of the trip into a lantern slideshow with an accompanying script.
