La Alberca se encuentra situada al sur de la provincia de Salamanca.Se encuentra al Norte de la Sierra de Francia. Con poco más de 1000 habitantes es un lugar turístico de primer rango dada la belleza de sus edificaciones en granito y madera que conservan un sabor de otros tiempos de gran belleza.
Sus alrededores, sierra de las Batuecas son tambien lugares muy renombrados por su interes turistico.
El Valle de las Batuecas esta considerado como "Sitio histórico".
Las fotografías proceden del fondo del archivo Mas uno de los más importantes de España conservado en el Instituto Amatller de Barcelona

Parte de los fondos del Archivo Mas fueron utilizados por la Dirección General de Turismo a cuya serie pertenecen estas fotografías realizadas hacia 1950.
Una de las fotos recoge una calle empinada del pueblo y la otra una de sus plazas observándose en ellas la buena conservación de los antiguos edificios donde la madera es parte importante de su construcción.

......La Serie Patronato Nacional de Turismo engloba un importante volumen de fotografías y otra documentación gráfica: carteles de información de actividades, folletos informativos, etc. En total, 344 cajas, que incluyen 80.975 fotografías, 49 sobres de índices fotográficos y 7 álbumes.
La fracción más antigua de la serie, denominada Catálogo Monumental de España, se realizó entre los años 1928, fecha de creación del Patronato, y 1936, momento en que las actividades de promoción del turismo quedan interrumpidas por la Guerra Civil. Este catálogo se compone de 3.861 fotografías de diferentes lugares y tema vario, pero siempre relacionado con la actividad turística.....
