Exposiciones para ver. Colección de Fotografía. Alcobendas. Centro Niemeyer. Avilés. Asturias.

.......... The history of the Collection of Art of the City of Alcobendas dates back to the late 70's, when they began to celebrate the National Salons of Plastic Arts. Each room was dedicated to an artistic discipline: sculpture, painting and ceramics. In 1985, in the fifth edition in the new House of Culture, began the acquisition of works, ......
.......... In 1994 the photograph was incorporated, but with the nuance that it was not the competition of a Salon, but the beginning of a collection, where, through an advisory committee, Was chosen with criteria to the authors ....

What can be said about this collection exhibited now in the Niemeyer? For the most direct is that they go to see it, do not miss it, be it here or in another city where it is shown. The selection of works, let alone authors, is excellent, we see photos very familiar with Paco Gómez, Pablo Genovés who now exhibits in the Cathedral of St. Paul in London, portraits of Schommer, Google-photos of Joan Fontcuberta etc. That is, I think what differentiates this Collection from others is the criterion, the quality of the selection of the works, more or less liked the chosen photographers, it is recognized that the selection is excellent in quality. And, of course, the best thing about the collection is to think that it has survived, and grown, in a City Council of a city in Spain, not one of its capitals. It has made a dream possible, a collection of art so it is always a dream, what in today's world means, no more or less than dreams are possible and that is a good way to end this post.
Have a good Sunday.
