La colección de fotografía antigua del Museo Sorolla se compone de cinco mil seiscientos cincuenta positivos, esta publicación es el primer volumen del proyecto de catalogación sistemática y exhaustiva de la colección. Contiene mil cuarenta y dos imágenes distribuidas en diferentes apartados: el primero y más numeroso, dedicado a Sorolla y su entorno familiar, está integrado por los primeros seiscientos ochenta y tres números del catálogo.
