- Lorenzo Novás fue discípulo del fotógrafo Francisco Zagala. Formó sociedad durante un tiempo con Sáez Mon firmando las fotos como Sáez Mon y Novás.Trabajó para la Sociedad Arqueólogica y para el Museo de Pontevedra. En 1940 gran parte de su archivo entró a formar parte del Museo de Pontevedra.
Sobre la actividad de la Sociedad Arqueólogica podemos leer en la web del Museo de Pontevedra, en su Archivo Grafico lo siguiente:
...Las fotografías más antiguas provienen de la primitiva labor investigadora llevada a cabo por la Sociedad Arqueológica de Pontevedra, antecesora de este Museo. Aquí debemos encuadrar la colección formada por la obra de Francisco Zagala (1842-1908), fotógrafo oficial de la mencionada Sociedad, para la que realizó numerosas fotografías que documentan de manera excepcional el patrimonio histórico-artístico de esta provincia. Su obra es, además, fuente documental de primer orden para el estudio de la evolución de la ciudad de Pontevedra en el tránsito del XIX al XX......
En este mismo Museo en la biografía del Fotógrafo Francisco Zagala podemos leer
......A su muerte en 1908, su discípulo y sucesor, Lorenzo Novás, se convierte en el nuevo fotógrafo de esta institución. En 1946 el Museo de Pontevedra compró su archivo fotográfico compuesto por más de 1000 placas de cristal, de las cuales, un gran número, habían pertenecido a su maestro Zagala. Estos negativos, unidos a los cientos de positivos originales de la Sociedad Arqueológica y a los procedentes de la colección Lois Teijeiro, convierten al Museo de Pontevedra en la Institución pública poseedora del mayor y más importante archivo fotográfico de fines del XIX que existe en Galicia.

En ella se muestran 64 imágenes tomadas tanto por reconocidos fotógrafos profesionales, como Francisco Zagala, Lorenzo Novas,Joaquin Pintos, Otto Wunderlich, Enrique Sarabia o Jose Suarez,
El fotógrafo olvidado Faro de Vigo
Lorenzo Novás Rarís captó cientos de imágenes de la Pontevedra de principios del XX, muchas atribuídas a Zagala
.."Primero trabajó por libre, imagino que las copias y el laboratorio que usaba eran los de Zagala, y hacia 1910 creó una sociedad con otro fotógrafo bastante mayor que él, Cobián, Cobián y Novás, con sede en la calle Peregrina 23"
.....pero todas las imágenes a partir de 1901 para la Sociedad Arqueológica las hizo mi abuelo... Lo que sucede es que en algunas ponía como pie Zagala Fot, eso es porque Zagala le encargaba una imagen, mi abuelo hacía 5, una se la entregaba efectivamente a Zagala y él se quedaba con el resto".
....No solo Zagala le compró imágenes,
también Ruth Matilda Anderson en el viaje que hizo a Galicia en 1924, si
bien en este caso se comprometió a recordar cada vez que las
reprodujese que pertenecían a la Sociedad Arqueológica.
Ésta
encargaba sus fotos al estudio de Mon y Novás, siendo Mon el socio
capitalista y sobrino de Casto Sampedro, presidente de la Arqueológica.

Coa consolidación comercial desta moda, sonados fotógrafos (Novás, Pedro Ferrer, Roisin...) inician as mellores series con Galicia como tema, se ben os exemplares dedicados a Pontevedra son escasos
A ausencia de información relativa á autoría de moitas postais non impide mencionar outros fotógrafos locais como Francisco Rodríguez Santos ou Lorenzo Novás Rorís.
Lorenzo Novás, la memoria de un olvidado
Cuando en 1898 Zagala solicita un fotógrafo profesional para su estudio tiene claro que Novás es el mejor. A partir de ese momento realiza trabajos de exteriores para Zagala Foto y otras de manera independiente. Fotos de la vida cotidiana de Pontevedra como de la Moureira y procesiones y fiestas como la de la Peregrina. Hay pocas referencias de fotografía de estudio, aunque hizo alguna serie con personajes populares de Pontevedra.
Además, colabora como fotoperiodista con el Almanaque Gallego, Vida Gallega, Estampa, Mondariz y diarios como El Diario de Pontevedra, El Pueblo Gallego, Galicia-Diario de Vigo y Faro de Vigo.
A los treinta y cinco años Novás es ya un fotógrafo reconocido y
recibe, entre otros premios y distinciones, la Medalla de Plata en la
Exposición regional de Lugo en 1915, en 1923 medalla en Londres con la
fotografía Un Golfo y 1o premio en la Expo Pontevedra en 1925.
