Fotografía. Retrato de grupo. Fotógrafo R. Barreiro. 1903. Vintage photo albumen Mexico Puebla Group. PHotographer Barreiro

retrato post morten, dicho
españoles a América Latina.

Nice photograph on cardboard that shows us a very large group of people in front of a building in which you can read, about your entrance, Jose Di ...., which, logically corresponds to José Díaz.
The characters that make up the group are very varied, because in the front line are women dressed almost with luxury for the time. Standing we see both civilians and soldiers and there are no children. Practically everyone looks at the photographer.
The photographer is far from the group, perhaps too much, to get "all in the picture" which does not allow much detail of the people.
The photo is dated 1903

PHOTOGRAPHER OF FORANEANS AND OF THOSE WHO HAVE LEFT THIS WORLD
His publicity in the Directory and Guide of the City of Puebla de Carrasco, and in the Complete Directory of the City of Puebla de Toussaint, was made by the photographer of the foreigners. Characters Huejotzingo, Acajete and Xochitlan of the State of Puebla, came to his cabinet to take the photograph either individually or as a group, which they would keep for themselves, or to deliver to family and friends in love or friendship test . European emigrants also came to the cabinet to take the portrait of the family group as well, they sent their relatives to announce their arrival in the city. The deceased were also taken with everything and bed for the post-mortem portrait, this portrait would be a proof of his life. Barreiro in his first period of work was associated with Piedras, so he called himself Barreiro y Piedras. In another period Barreiro was a partner of Sabino Villegas for what he called himself Barreiro y Cía. This information shows us that probably photographers to remain active, associated with other photographers in order to stay in the competitive photographic market.
About photography and emigration
Graphic memory of the Spanish emigration
It is, therefore, a phenomenon of undeniable historical and social significance that has left its mark, and certainly in a very outstanding way, on the face that today's modern Spanish society presentsThe reconstruction of this memory, not only responds to a legitimate and necessary historiographical desire but also represents an opportunity for us to recognize ourselves in our own collective identity. This, without a doubt, would be another, very different, without this formidable baggage of many generations who, for different reasons, decided to emigrate from their land. There is a memory of those who left, of their life trajectory and also of the invaluable contribution they made both to the development of our country and to the presence of Spain in the world.
Memories of Spanish emigration to America:
............... Large document, with detailed study by countries, documenting the Spanish emigration to America
The content of this book, published thanks to the support of the General Directorate of Spanish Citizenship Abroad of the Ministry of Labor and Immigration, is the result of the Madrid Project between two shores (2005-2007) 1 whose objectives included the preparation of a Memory Bank that archives information and experiences of Spanish emigrants to Latin America. Approaching the migration phenomenon from the individual and collective memory of the Spaniards who emigrated decades ago could be a good antidote to combat the xenophobia and exclusion that threatens sometimes the immigrant men and women who have arrived in Spain with the will to be our fellow citizens. For this, nothing better than returning, as a mirror, the experiences of Spanish emigrants to America, collecting a sample of testimonies, correspondence, photographs, images and voices of those people ............. .
