La pintura y la fotografía, sobre todo en los últimos años están teniendo una fuerte relación de tal manera que no es difícil encontrar ejemplos de artistas que combinan ambas técnicas o, incluso, que han hecho el cambio total de una de ellas a la otra.( Ballester)
Sin embargo a mitad del siglo pasado hay algunos casos de artistas que combinaron, prácticamente toda su vida, pintura y fotografía.
Uno de ellos es Charlie Sheeler cuyas visiones, es decir maneras de ver, de la arquitectura están plenamente vigentes hoy.
Muchos fotógrafos de hoy recorren el camino que Sheeler hizo,abrió, hace muchos años.
Me refiero especialemente a sus vistas de ciudad y fábricas.
.........Whether depicting the American house, city, or factory, he made the
objective machine aesthetic of the camera the basis for works that,
although largely devoid of people, still sustain a palpable connection
with the viewer
.......In late 1927 and early 1928, Sheeler spent six weeks documenting the Ford Motor Company's automobile plant in River Rouge, Michigan, as part of the promotional campaign for the release of the Model A Ford. Sheeler's thirty-two photographs of the Ford plant depict its acres of gleaming, massive machinery, rather than the human process of labor
