El Museo del Pueblo de Asturias sigue ampliando sus fondos fotográficos y , poco a poco,  nos lo muestra en exposiciones que realiza en su fototeca, edifico singular dentro las instalaciones de esta excelente museo etnográfico.

En este caso nos muestra unas fotografías de gran formato de un fotógrafo relativamente poco conocido:

...........Esta exposición reúne 14 fotografías realizadas por el fotógrafo Luis Vallet Montano hace justamente cien años (1916) por encargo de la Sociedad Hulleras de Turón. Muestran la construcción de pozos, instalaciones y viviendas mineras, y la transformación de un espacio rural, el valle de Turón (Mieres), en industrial durante la Primera Guerra Mundial,........

 Pues bien las fotos son de gran calidad y, como dije anterioremente, de tamaño poco frecuente en su época. Tienen un evidente valor documental, pero, a la vez, artístico lo que hace totalmente recomendada la visita, si pasan por Gijón, a esta exposición.

Además uno no puede menos que señalar que estas agrupaciones de fotos, encargos de empresas, que recogen la actividad industrial y,a la vez, sus gentes y edificios de empresa tienen un valor que las hace especialmente agradables de ver. Es como ver el pasado, personal y profesional, junto en 14 fotos.

 

Señalar que pertenecen a una reciente adquisición de fondos por parte del museo gracias a la generosidad de una familia que dio las facilidades necesarias para que llegara a buen fin.

Estas son las que ahora se incorporan a la fototeca del Muséu del Pueblu d'Asturies gracias a sus hijas Benigna Kopp-Gurdiel y Elisa Gurdiel Wedel. Se trata de una colección muy variada de fotografía española, europea y americana, así como también asturiana. Hay vistas urbanas del siglo XIX, retratos, negativos, estereoscópicas, tarjetas postales, etc. El número total de fotografías es de 5.831.

Destacaremos el álbum de fotografías formado por uno de los pocos españoles que asistió el 17 de noviembre de 1869 a la inauguración del Canal de Suez, en el que se recogen fotografías de ciudades, lugares y tipos humanos adquiridas en un viaje que comenzó en Madrid el 20 de octubre y terminó en Bilbao el 31 de diciembre de aquel año
