Fondos documentales. Administración General del Estado. Archivo fotográfico de la Delegación de Propaganda.Madrid. Guerra Civil.
gobierno republicano a Valencia.

Numerous files are kept in the General Archive of the Administration.
Today I remember the Photographic Archives of the Delegation of Propaganda Madrid, originally called Red Archive by its relationship with the General Vicente Rojo
The attribution of this striking name seems to refer to a coeval to its conformation character, the Republican General Vicente Rojo, who served during those years as Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces in Madrid, responsible for the organization of the plan protection of the city, once the Republican government moved to Valencia.Origins of the Red Archive
The functions to control both photographic and cinematographic put on sale in the country, as professional photographers doing their work in the area of Republican control were assumed by separate bodies as the Minister of Public Order, the Delegation of Propaganda and the Press, the provincial and municipal corporations of the city, until in 1936 the Republican government reinforces these tasks on purpose creating a Ministry of Propaganda. This, along with the Subcomisariado Propaganda of the General Commissariat of War, will be responsible for advertising services, information and propaganda of state interest, so that the press, radio, cinema, exhibitions, public events and publications of all kinds generated in Republican territory will be during these years under its strict control. In 1937 these functions will pass to the Directorate General of Propaganda, under the Ministry of State, losing their autonomy and range superio

.......... This valuable photographic set was created by the Board of Defense of Madrid as propagandistic Fund to denounce the disasters of the Civil War. He was then hidden and used by the other side as an instrument of repression of political ideas. Today, his images bring us closer to acts aimed to remember and honor the victims of the warring parties and to reaffirm today's society the ties of political and social coexistence collected in the spirit of the 1978 Constitution .. ........
