Herman J.
Schwartzmann 1843-1891) was the Architect in Chief of the 1876
Centennial in Philadelphia where he designed Memorial Hall and
Horticultural Hall. Following the close of the exhibition he moved to
New York City and established a partnership with Alfred Buchman which
lasted until 1890.
