Exposiciones para ver y fotografiar. Ivory Press Cristina Iglesias & Thomas Struth. On Reality

Las galerías de arte pienso que cumplen varias funciones que se pueden resumir, de manera corta en tres apartados:

• Permiten al artista presentar su obra al público.

• Permiten al aficionado y/o coleccionista contemplar/adquirir dicha obra de artista.

• Pero, ademas, la galeria va formando al aficionado/coleccionista en el arte merced a la seleccion de artistas, temas y tendencias que presenta en su galeria. 

Es decir ejerce una función cultural básica.

Pues bien una de las galerías que mejor ejerce, en mi opinión, este último apartado es la galería Ivory Press de Madrid de la cual ya he comentado algunas exposiciones. 

Si se fijan en mis comentarios alguna de esas exposiciones no me gustó nada pero si formó o ayudó a formar mi "punto de vista".

Por ejemplo, ahora, ya empiezo a comprender y apreciar la obra de Ólafur Eliasson ( Studio Ólafur Eliasson) artista que del que vi una obra suya por primera vez en esta galería.

Pues bien acaba de inaugurar la exposición

Books Beyond Artists: Words and Images

Estarán presentes libros objeto o ediciones muy reducidas realizadas por artistas contemporáneos como Paul McCarthy o Anselm Kiefer, que convivirán con libros pictóricos y escultóricos donde el texto es mínimo o inexistente. Son obras que dejan todo el protagonismo a la imagen, a la escultura o a la pintura. En esta sección la muestra contará con ediciones realizadas por Francisco de Goya, William Kentridge o Anthony Caro, entre otros. Además la exposición incluirá libros de artista realizados por figuras del arte contemporáneo como Louise Bourgeois o Damien Hirst

 

Por cierto recordemos que esta sala permite habitualmente la fotografía ( desconozco si en este caso es así pero espero que sea posible..)
