En el coleccionismo de fotografía es, en cierto modo, una asignatura pendiente el coleccionar álbumes fotográficos.
Algunos tenemos la suerte de tener un álbum propio, es decir, aquel que realizado por nuestros padres -realmente muchas veces por las madres-recoge nuestra propia historia en imágenes o las imágenes de nuestra historia. Es aquel que nos permite recordar el tiempo pasado pues las fotos familiares cumplen, quizás como ninguna otra, el recordar, documentar quiero decir,un momento de nuestra historia.
Otros llegamos a tener la suerte, rara suerte, de tener el álbum de nuestros abuelos.

A veces vemos exposiciones de álbumes familiares como la que tuvo lugar en el Lázaro Galdiano con las fotos de Pedro Antonio de Alarcón.

Pues bien poco a poco se encuentran diferentes estudios sobre la fotografía del álbum familiar
