PhotographsHenri Cartier-Bresson: Decisive Moments

Over 100 photographs by Henri Cartier-Bresson comprise the next installment of the Modern Vision online sale series. As a master of the candid photograph, Cartier-Bresson boasts an unparalleled résumé devoted to more than 30 years on assignment for international publications such as LIFE magazine. This sale reveals a range of inspiration by capturing not only pivotal moments in photojournalism, but also beautiful moments of ordinary life. Bidding starts at $100 for all lots and opens at 12pm EDT on October 4.

  • Please note that most of the prints in this sale were made for the purpose of reproduction in press publications and as such are offered unaccompanied by certification from the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation.

Pregunta entonces Man Ray que cuantas copias quiere

As curiosity I commented this auction of photographs, some of the best known, Cartier Bresson.

Many of them are "periodic", ie of those pictures we found with relative frequency in stores and leading to back a short description of the photo and the name of the agency and the photographer ..... recent not always.

Well in this auction there are many photographs of this type of Cartier Bresson and the auction house warns:

PLEASE NOTE THAT MOST of the prints in esta leaves Were Made for the purpose of reproduction in press publications and are offered Preferred Such as unaccompanied by certification from the Henri Cartier-Bresson Foundation.

And one, from the point of view of the collector, can not help wondering why ......... will not be certified? Are they yours or not work?At the end of the day all the work that the collector is on the market has been, originally, sold or given away by the artist as with those photos agency.Another thing is the value the market and want to give them laws but in my opinion it is his works.

Complementing me is the memory of a video conversation with Man Ray recently told them:

At one point the interviewer says Man Ray who had to earn a living portraying different people. One of the orders was a "Rajah" to be presented with the dress of their country.Le look, says nothing and does the photo.Man Ray then asks how many copies you wantRaja replied that "thousands ..."Man Ray then says "I give the negative and make you want"

Curious question Are those pictures of Man Ray thousands of photos?
