En la sala de exposiciones del Colegio de Arquitectos de Madrid se presenta la exposición:

World Press Photo es el mayor y más longevo certamen anual de fotoperiodismo internacional. Visita cada año más de 150 ciudades en el mundo y llega de nuevo a la sede colegial con la exposición de las fotografías ganadoras del 2016. 

En primer lugar comentar, como curiosidad, que es la exposición de fotos que más publico tenia, en el momento de verla yo, de todas las que visite en Madrid.

The photographers who enter the World Press Photo contest use their creative, technical, and journalistic skills to produce visually compelling insights about our world.

Entrants are encouraged to explore techniques that serve the cause of visual journalism. Different cameras and lenses can achieve particular effects. Varying aperture and exposure settings can record the scene in different ways. Altering ISO settings and the use of flash lighting enables less visible situations to be recorded.

This means photography gives us a creative interpretation of the world. However, when we want pictures to record and inform us of the varied events, issues, people, and viewpoints in our world, there are limits to how pictures can be made.

The World Press Photo Contest rewards pictures that are visual documents, providing an accurate and fair representation of the scene the photographer witnessed. We want the audience to be able to trust in the accuracy and fairness of the prize-winning pictures. We do not want prize-winning pictures to mislead the audience.

This means pictures entered into the contest must follow a series of guidelines that guard against manipulation. The first entry rule concerned with manipulation came into force in 2009. In 2014 the requirement that all photographers submit original camera files for entries remaining in the second to last round was introduced. Throughout 2015 the World Press Photo Foundation conducted an international consultation on its contest rules and processes, and the entry rules and processes have now been revised for the 2016 Photo Contest.

What counts as manipulation?

Many things can count as manipulation in photography, but for the World Press Photo Contest, the code of ethics and entry rules focus on two important issues.

1. The first thing that counts as manipulation is staging or re-enacting events.

2. The second thing that counts as manipulation is adding or removing content from the image.

Las fotos que vemos , fuera del contexto de la prensa, digital o escrita, del momento de la noticia pierden parte, en algún caso gran parte de su fuerza.

Son fotos tan perfectas que parecen, a pesar de las normas que acabo de comentar........parecen muchas muy editadas.
Son fotos, muchas, muestras de dolor humano pero también son, casi todas, fotos bellas aunque parezca una contradicción. 

Parece como si uno, aficionado a la fotografía antigua, pensase "antes se hacía mejor" Es decir, la foto de hoy está tan unida a la noticia que exige-no siempre- explicación para "verla" mientras que la antigua " se explica sola"

Es un sentimiento personal que me hizo pensar......¿estaré equivocado?.... puede, no sé, pero desde luego un reportaje de Bruce Davidson ( en Mapfre ahora) es muy superior a estas fotos.
