Muchas veces encontramos postales de Roisin, una de las grandes casas de postales de España.
También, con algo menor frecuencia, aparecen fotos de esta firma que, a la muerte de su fundador en 1943, se mantuvo activa hasta 1962 tal y como nos informan los documentos siguientes.
Las fotos de Roisin son, habitualmente, de valor documental, su valor fotográfico es menor que otras casas de la época ( Loty es, normalmente, mucho mejor).
Las fotos que comento en este post llevan, asimismo, el sello de la Editorial Labor:
La Enciclopedia Labor es una obra de referencia en español realizada por la Editorial Labor
entre 1955 y 1984. El esquema original se compone de nueve tomos en
diez volúmenes, a los que luego se agregaron tres suplementos.
Según José Martínez de Sousa,
«esta enciclopedia, la mejor de su género en España y el mundo
hispánico aún hoy [2005], es la única citada en obras extranjeras cuando
se estudia y analiza este tipo de trabajos». Agrega que «está muy bien estructurada, y su contenido y orientación se corresponden con los más adelantados de la época».
Mi paso por editorial Labor

En efecto,
el 16 de abril de 1915 Georg Wilhelm Pfleger, de Leipzig (Alemania), y el doctor Josep
Fornés i Vila, de Barcelona,
constituyeron oficialmente Editorial
Labor, empresa que se dedicaría a la edición preferente de libros científicos y técnicos
(medicina, odontología, farmacia, ingeniería, comercio). La nueva empresa
aplicó por primera vez en nuestro país la venta de libros a plazos, que a la
editorial le dio muy buenos resultados, puesto que, cuando en 1996 desapareció, aún vendía libros y
colecciones por este procedimiento (la Historia de España,dirigida por Manuel Tuñón
de Lara, entre otras)
ALREDEDOR DEL VIAJE: Las postales MAN.
Interesado
en los contrastes Roisin retrató por un lado, en las obras primeras o de
cronología posterior pero referidas a zonas débilmente urbanizadas o menos
dinámicas, los oficios y las formas de vida tradicionales (son clásicos sus
lavaderos y lavanderas), los ambientes populares, así como los actores y
prácticas que pautaban la vida cotidiana en el pasado. Contrapuso esa
información a la ofrecida en distintas fechas, sobre esos mismos lugares y en
especial las regiones más desarrolladas, representando la irrupción de los motores
de crecimiento capitalistas y la incidencia del progreso científico y técnico,
enmarcados en las políticas reformistas. Parecen interesarle particu- larmente
las grandes obras civiles (viaductos, puentes), las infraestructuras ferroviarias
y portuarias, el papel de los transportes urbanos o la movilidad
El negocio
familiar siguió en manos de Luciana Roisin y de su cuñada, que continuaron explotando
la enorme colección fotográfica de su tío. En 1962 cometen un error y deciden
dedi- carse también a la venta de recuerdos turísticos, circunstancia que
aprovecha el dueño del local para rescindir el contrato de alquiler. Así, las
dos mujeres pierden su negocio, aunque se quedan con un archivo fotográfico de
unas 40.000 fotografías.
Luciana
Roisin intenta sin éxito que alguna entidad pública se haga cargo del legado de
su tío, pero su cuñada vende, sin su consentimiento, toda la colección a un trapero
por 11.000 Ptas.
Gracias a un
cliente habitual de la tienda que la pone en contacto con el propietario de la Editorial
Labor, Luciana consigue salvar todo el archivo abonando al trapero 25.000
Ptas., llevándose Labor todo el material. Desaparecida la editorial, la
dirección depositó el archivo en el Instituto
Fotográfico
de Cataluña, para que se procediese a su catalogación. Una pequeña parte del
mismo se encuentra en el Archivo Nacional de Cataluña. Los técnicos de ambos
organismos están identificando y catalogando la obra de Lucien Roisin
recogida por toda la Península hace casi 90 años.
Tras su muerte, el 16 de febrero de 1943, a la edad de 58 años, en la
clínica de la Alianza, en Barcelona, sin dejar descendencia, su sobrino
cambia el nombre del negocio que pasa a denominarse “Sobrino de L.
Roisin”. El día 31-10-1954 según una necrológica aparecida en la
Vanguardia, muere su sobrina y el 18 de junio de 1959, según el Registro
Civil, su sobrino Robert Roisin Duc. En pocos años habían desaparecido
los dos sucesores naturales en el negocio. El negocio cerraría en 1962.
